UptimeRobot is the tool most agencies start with, and for good reason: the free plan was generous and the paid plans check fast. The catch for agencies is what happens once you bill clients for monitoring. Since December 2024, UptimeRobot's free plan bans commercial and client sites, and even on paid plans the alert emails still come from UptimeRobot, not from you.

Where UptimeRobot wins
Be honest with yourself about what you need. UptimeRobot's Team plan checks every 30 seconds from a global probe network, can phone you when a site goes down, and comes with a SOC 2 report. If a client runs an e-commerce store where a two-minute gap matters, or your contract promises detection times, UptimeRobot is the safer choice. At 100 monitors it is also cheaper per site than we are, as long as you don't need the alerts to come from you.
Where Site Monitor wins
If you sell monitoring as part of a care plan, the alert email is the product your client sees. With UptimeRobot, a client who looks closely sees another company's name on the message and wonders what they are paying you for. With Site Monitor, every alert, recovery notice and monthly report comes from your domain, with your logo, on every Agency plan — no separate white-label add-on and no per-status-page fee.
